THE COPYRIGHT ISSUE

On the chromeheads discussion forum  a few persons mentioned the possibility of violating the copyright on this Cruiser's manual. Others have stated that I should keep it available. Again others have questioned if it is really illegal or just "immoral" to do so. I don't have all the answers. But since I try to respect everyone’s opinion, and hope you will respect mine, I have decided to give it some attention.

The copyright lies with BMW AG, Motorcycle Division / Aftersales Germany.

My reason to make it available is this:

1.   I don't want to make money, I just want to help out, and make some friends.

2.   Any technical information regarding a bike should be widely available, preferably by BMW themselves, or for sale for a reasonable price (cost price). It just helps owners to understand their bikes better, and maybe do some servicing safer too (knowing how it is made).

3.   Interested people can look into it, and try it before buying it.

4.   If you want to download it and keep it; well, the choice and decision is yours.

5.   It just makes enthusiast for the bike a little more enthusiastic, and thereby it is also "free advertising" for BMW

I also made the following statement on the (old)  chromeheadforum, and repeat it here:

When the copyright holder mentioned above has a problem with this file being available for download, they can contact me. There claim has to be verifiable (eg by an original BMW mailadres). As long as i hear nothing from the copyright holder, I am safe to assume that they do not have a problem with it.

So IF you are BMW AG, and you are thinking you should; you can contact me on this issue by clicking on my name.

Cheers!
